For week seven of our series on 1 John, we are in chapter five. John talks about God as our Father and Jesus as His son. Jesus was groundbreaking in the idea of communicating we are children of God. As Christians we must believe Jesus was the son of God, that's a domino God put in place. We are also called to love our Family of God, our spiritual family, and follow the family rules. Like all children, we need guardrails that guide us to be obedient. When we walk with Christ, we get a new identity, much like living with a new last name. But, none of it is possible without believing Jesus is the son of God.
